My name is Brendan Kedie, I am a British teacher delivering American History to the Grade 11 students and this is my second year in Kuwait. I have a degree in Art History from the University of Leicester and gained a PGCE at the University of Portsmouth.

I have 14 years teaching experience in the Education system in the UK, teaching A-Levels, Access to University, Degree and FDa courses, to students from the age of 16 up to adults returning to education. I have taught a range of subjects including History, History of Art, Film Studies, Media, TV, Digital and Cultural Studies. More recently I added a CELTA qualification, teaching English as a second language. I have taught students from many nations including China, Japan, Norway, Germany, Spain, Italy, France and now Kuwait.

Perhaps most importantly for the role of College Advisor I have 10 years’ experience guiding students through the UCAS process applying to British Universities. A significant number were from outside the UK, including many students from China.

I therefore have a wealth of experience helping students to choose the right degree at the right University, offering guidance in writing their Personal Statements and all the other complications of the UCAS process. For 6 years I was a lead UCAS tutor in my FE college, helping to organise visits to University Open Days and dealing directly with University Faculties in response to the requirements of our students.

I have lived in many parts of the UK, including 12 years in London and I feel that an important part of the process of deciding where to study is understanding aspects of the cultural life particular cities can offer (the allure of particular Football Clubs may also play a part in this).
